The Pirates Track and Field athletes were poised to finally compete and it showed. Jadyn Snaer (East Union) blasted out of the blocks in the 100 and led from gun to finish in a state leading time of 12.17. That time also ranks her 8th on MJC's All Time List. Jeida Lavender (Sierra High) rushed down the back stretch and leaned out a 2019 all state performer to win the 400 meters in 1:00.41. At the end of the day Jadyn and Jeida teamed up with Kaci Kuykendall (Gregori High) and Rhiannon Genilla (Manteca High) to win the 4x400m relay in 4:10.27. That time is #1 in the Big 8 and #4 in the state. On the men's side, Silas Fredeen (Turlock High) overcame 2 misses at his opening height to ultimately win the pole vault with a jump of 14'9. That ranks #1 in the Big 8 and #3 in the state.
Other notable performances were turned in by Azia Brewster (Ceres High) and Genilla in the javelin, Elle Souza (Kimball High) in the pole vault, Aryana Perillo (Modesto High) in the 5k, Alyssa Evans (Tracy High) in the 400 hurdles, Sal Ramos (Livingston High) in the 110 and 400 hurdles and William Schwertscharf (Buhach Colony) in the javelin.
